My name is Daren Wendell.

Over the past five years, I've led ActiveWater, an organization I co-founded in 2009 to creatively use the athletic lifestyle and grassroots campaigns to raise awareness for the world water crisis.

I have spent the last five years working with thousands of athletes and passionate young people to help provide vulnerable children and families in remote, rural, and hard-to-reach regions of our world with safe water and sanitation in their homes and schools.  I've cycled and walked across the United States, hiked the Appalachian Trail, swam across Lake Michigan and competed in quite a few marathons and half-marathons, but now I'm taking on my biggest challenge - running 100 marathons in 100 days!

Run Daren Run begins on January 1, 2015 taking me from the Santa Monica Pier, California on day one to Times Square in New York City 100 days later.

The Route:

Every donation, no matter the size, has a tremendous impact - consider the fact that $40 brings safe water for life to one person!  I'd welcome you to join me for one or more of my marathons, but if that's not your thing - do what is - plan your own big event and get your friends involved (think mustache contest, donate your birthday, drink only water). It’s a whole lot better (and easier) having a team than my running or hiking around this country on my own, trying to raise millions of dollars from my family and people I grew up with. I think the key takeaway here is that sacrifice inspires. People see what you're trying to accomplish and they usually want to join in. That’s how I plan on raising $100,000 in a hundred days!.

Your donations, sponsorships and support of RunDarenRun help give clean water to communities in need – improving families’ lives and keeping their children healthy and safe.

I’m proud of all Activewater has been able to accomplish seeing more than 180,000 people get clean water, improved sanitation and hygiene training, and I’m even more excited about where we’re headed now that Activewater is powered by Lifewater.  My goal has, and will always be to help serve more people, more effectively, and this move helps me, and others that choose to join the movement, do just that.

Thank you for considering joining me!
