When I say that I've lost 50lbs, that's only since I started training for Kilimanjaro.  If you wanted to know what my total weight loss has been, it's actually 73lbs!  In 2013, I had become almost lethargic in my day to day routine.  I did as little moving as I had to, and I ate everything in sight.  My evenings were spent in front of a television snacking on whatever was available in the house.  I hadn't exercised in years, and my gut was evidence of that.  I weighed in at 294lbs.  Never in my life did I think I would ever weigh almost 300.  Never in my life did I think I could become so lazy.  Never in my life did I think I would have a lower opinion of myself as I did the day I saw that weight on the scale.  I needed some serious life change.

Fast forward to today.  I'm now weighing in at 221lbs., I'm hiking 30+ miles a week, and I've never felt better.  I wish that I hadn't waited until my 40's to get my life together.  There were so many wasted opportunities for me to do some amazing things, and I couldn't do them, because moving was difficult........but that excuse doesn't fly now.  Just in the past four days, I've hiked 25 miles in three hikes.  One of those went into the night and had to be finished up with headlamps.  I've hiked in mud.  I've hiked in the bitter cold, and I've hiked in torrential downpours.

In just three weeks, I'll be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro with 15 other people who are doing the same thing I am.  It's the 4th highest peak in the world, and the tallest in Africa.  It'll easily be one of the most difficult tasks I'll ever complete in my life, but I WILL do it.

Why would I ever go to all of this trouble?  It's simple.  There are people who don't have faucets in their homes where they can just get a glass of water.  There are people dying from things as simple as diarrhea.  Children are growing up with back and neck issues, because they have to travel miles every day just to make sure they have enough water to take care of their family's everyday needs.  There are so many stories of people all over the world who struggle daily with something that we just take for granted here in the United States.......clean water.   I'm only about $2700 away from having the money to place a well in Ethiopia that will change the lives of an entire village.

Would you consider helping me do this?  Would you consider making a sacrifice that could change someone's life forever?  Only $40 can give someone clean water for the rest of their life.  You can give here to become a life-giver to some amazing people.
